I was wondering if this light would work for a UAS on my 8 gal nano tank. The screen will be roughly 2x3 inches, lit on one side. IMO it isn't so a question as to will it work but how well will it work? I think it won't give you the results you may be looking for. I have found low wattage (yes I know it states 10w but probably run far less) hydrophobic LED's just don't cut it and give weak growth.

Have you considered DIY LED's? do the LED's need to be submerged in the water or perhaps just splash proof?
