DIYing is one of my hobbies esp when it comes to my reef tank so I decided to have a go at building a waterfall ATS. My scrubber is powered by a small submersible water pump. So far the water is spread across the screen very well.

I got my the idea from here.

but modified it to my own liking and to fit in my sump.

I used an A5 leaflet holder as it is the biggest I can accommodate in my Aqua Reef 300 sump and it was about the right size anyway. The piping is 3/4" plumbers overflow pipe with a push 90-degree angle push fit connector with a hose barb on the end to attach the flexible hose too. The connector is one I had in one of my spares boxes left over from some pump or other you often get.

Lighting is to each side of the screen is provided by 2x 20w cheap Chinese LED units which are splash proof which aren't run at 20w at all more like 12/14w.
    LED wavelength: 16 x LED's x 650-660NM(red), and 4 x LED's 440-450NM(blue).

I made a lighting rig from more 3/4" pipe using elbow and tee pieces as feet with the whole thing resting on the sump strengthening bars. The lights are bolted into the top tubes of the rig and can swivel up and down and from side to side if required.

In this pic (taken prior to wiring it in with a waterproof connector). I removed my skimmer cup to get the pic of one of my lighting rigs.

The 2 lights on the scrubber but look closely to see the one on the right-hand side of the scrubber.

10 days growth and the GHA is beginning to grow on the screen.

    Any questions just ask.

The LED lights are excellent and I know of a few people here in the UK who use them and report the same.
