If you use Hotmail, Live, Outlook, MSN, or any other Microsoft-based e-mail, please read and follow this guide!

Microsoft (along with several other email providers) use aggressive anti-spam tools to help protect you. Unfortunately, some of the "rules" that these tools use quite often treat most forum-generated emails as junk.

In order to ensure that you receive the e-mail alerts from the forum for things like replies to threads you are watching, conversation messages (PMs), mentions, and especially the initial account confirmation email, I strongly suggest that you add the forum URL to your Safe Senders list. Here is a step-by-step guide:

    1) Log into your e-mail account online

    2) If you have already registered, you might see the Confirmation e-mail in the junk folder. Even if you don't, follow all these steps! There is a reason!

    3) find the Settings wheel in the upper right corner of the window. Hover/click on that, and select Options

    4) Locate and click Safe Senders under Junk Mail

    5) Enter the URL of this site as "algaescrubbing.com" as shown below, and click the "+" sign to add it to the list

    6) Click Save

    7) after you have clicked Save, the button will turn from black to grey.

That's it! All messages from the site will now go directly to your inbox!

It's important to note that only marking a message that is in the Junk folder as "not junk" does not automatically add that e-mail address to your Safe Senders list - thus, it does not guarantee that future messages from the forum will not be treated as junk.

Tip: Do this for turbosaquatics also, as well as any other forum you are registered on!

    **Note**
If you add this for turbosaquatics.com, make sure that you enter only "turbosaquatics.com" - leave off the "www", you don't need that. Also make sure you didn't leave of either "s"!!

    **ALSO NOTE**
There is an iPhone-specific bug related to using the default mail app on an iPhone to check your email with any Microsoft-based email. What happens is this: some emails (it is totally random) will not show up on your phone inbox, even though they are actually in your inbox when you go online to outlook's website and check. No one seems to know why this happens. The "fix" is as follows: when you set up your email through your iPhone, and it asks you which service you want to connect to, there are pre-configured options for yahoo, gmail, outlook, etc. Choose "other" and set it up manually, instead of using the one pre-configured Outlook option. Alternatively, you can use the dedicated Outlook App.

For all of these above reasons, I highly recommend using gmail instead over any Microsoft-based email - they are a total nightmare.

    Thanks!
