I have been running a DIY scrubber for 7 months or so with great results. Or at least the lights in my sump seem to keep the nasties down below vs in the display lol. My L2 will be here tomorrow eliminating the lights in the sump and killing off all the algae slime below. my worry is with no more lights in the sump and just a clean screened L2 with eclipsed lights will the nasties move up top? You can try to seed the screen, but with the mortar screen, if you smear algae on it you could loosen quite a bit of the mortar. I would just start it from scratch
