THIS THREAD APPLIES ONLY TO THE FIRST VERSION OF THE L2 ALGAE SCRUBBER

The L2 Rev 1 LED array was (6) 660nm Deep Reds, with (1) 440/450nm Royal Blue in the middle. The RB is brighter than the reds, and also in close proximity to 2 of them. This creates a spot in the middle of the screen that is very bright - too bright. That is why the second revision uses a slightly different arrangement of LEDs.

If you consider yourself handy with LEDs, you can modify the array to match the current layout of blue LEDs. This involves removing the blue LED and relocating it, adding a second blue LED, and soldering the new connections. The blues will be wired such that they each run at 1/2 of the total current. This eliminates the need for the tape over the blue LED, and also eliminates the bare spot at the center of the screen. I offer a kit containing 2 LEDs and 4 replacement thermal pads, as well as an instructional video if you are interested in performing this modification.

I will also be offering a much simpler method that involves no soldering (coming soon)
