Using a sea hare to clean the scrubber screen?

  1. Hi all, I ran my last tank ( a 5 ft mixed reef) very well on a large diy scrubber.

    The main difficulty was cleaning out the screen, and ive been wondering for a while now if we could use snails or perhaps even a sea hare to eat away the algae that grows on the screen rather than manually needing to remove it.

    Any thoughts?

    That would put most of the nutrients back into the water via excretion, but a little would go into the animal's structure
