Hi, I purchased an L2 scrubber from another club member. I have set it up per the instructions on Turbo Aquatics web site. About a month in and this is my second cleaning and there was thick growth, but the hair was black and covered in red slime. I am running the lights at about 50% and they are on for 19hrs. I am guessing I need to turn the photo period down, but thought I would reach out for an expert opinion before I start changing things.

Let me know if all looks good. Compared to the MJ 1200 running my diy scrubber the Rio is a beast!! Water flow was very noisy at first because I had it at full blast no valve. I ended up putting in the ball valve and dialing the pump back a hair. Then I closed closed the flapper drain almost as far as it would go. No noise now and the water level in the growth chamber is just below the false bottom. I imagine once the screen matures I will be able to crank the flow up all the way. That's how...
Working on installing my new scrubber from Bud and wondering if it's OK to support the unit with the drain pipes? Seems like it would be fine. I have a horizontal shelf down in my sump with a hole in it. I plan to add a bulkhead and run the full siphon through that. The backup drain will go down to a flare ended fitting with slots in it for draining that will just sit on the shelf to support the unit.
Only thing I need to do now is to shorten export pipe, and install flow control there (received with package).
Keeping in mind that I will not play around with jumpers on LED board, just to be safe, my question is what photoperiod you suggest for break in period?
